The Deputy Minister for Railway Development, Hon. Kwaku Asante-Boateng has urged members of the newly constituted Advisory Board of the Ministry of Railway Development to ensure that they work assiduously for Ghana to meet its target in the development of a modern and robust railway system, as in the Railway Master Plan.

He said the development of the railway sector is key to regional integration and will also facilitate the movement of goods and services within and outside the country.

The Board is being chaired by Hon. John – Peter Amewu, Minister for Railway Development (MoRD). Other members are; Hon. Kwaku Asante-Boateng, Deputy Minister for MoRD, Mr. Desmond Boateng, Acting Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Yaw Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority, Ing. Dr. Michael Adjei Anyetei, Managing Director of Ghana Railway Company Limited, and  Mr. Godwin Gadikor, Head of Policy Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, MoRD.

The rest are; Mr. David Klottey Collison, Director, Public Investment and Asset Division, Ministry of Finance, Ing. Prof. Issaka Yakubu from Ghana Institution of Engineering, Mr. Andrews Osei Mensah from Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. There are also three Government Nominees serving on the Board namely, Togbe Keh XII, Chief of Wegbe, Gbi Traditional Council, Madam Beatrice Agbley and Mr. Abdallah Mohammed

Hon. Kwaku Asante-Boateng commended the outgoing Advisory Board for their efforts and support to the Ministry and its Agencies during their term of office which enabled the Ministry remain focus in the realization of the development of a modern railway sector as envisioned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He was hopeful that the rich background and expertise of the newly inaugurated Advisory Board would provide the Sector Minister with good counsel towards the achievement of the mandate of the Ministry.

The inauguration held on Wednesday 15^th December 2021 is in line with Section 40 of the Civil Service Act, 1993 (PNDCL 327) which requires every Ministry to constitute a Ministerial Advisory Board to promote constant interaction between the Ministry and the users of its services and advise the sector Minister on adjustment in policy direction, planning objectives and operational strategies.
